The Harlem River Lift Bridge, the segment of the Triborough Bridge that connects Randall's Island and Manhattan, late 1930s, looking from Randall's Island to Manhattan. When in its down position (shown) it has a clearance of 55 feet at high tide, but can be raised an additional 80 feet, which is still done to this day to allow large ships to pass.
