WPA sign on Fifth Avenue at the entrance to the Arsenal and the Zoo. Well,
I can't
prove that this is an original WPA creation from the 1930s,
but compare it with the images below. Also note the 1930s typography, and
especially note the reference to the cafeteria (Kelly's), part of the
original zoo that was demolished decades ago.

Some had eagles, some didn't. Some had stars in the corners, others had
florettes, others just had screws. The reason the Zoo sign doesn't mention
the WPA is that Robert Moses forbade
it.
