Highbridge Park in Manhattan, seen from the High Bridge walkway, September
2019. The High Bridge Tower was built in 1866-72 to increase water pressure
in buildings in the high elevations of upper Manhattan that received their
water from the Croton reservoir via the High Bridge aqueduct. The tower
served until 1949[1].
