An entrance to
Manhattan Highbridge Park in Washington Heights.
We'll refer to it simply as Highbridge Park from now on because it's the only
Highbridge Park that anybody has ever heard of, and it's famous for its
enormous swimming pool. The land for Highbridge Park was assembled
piecemeal between 1867 and the 1960s. It was designed in 1888 by Samuel
Parsons Jr. and Calvert Vaux[1]. The Park extends along upper Manhattan's
east side from 155th Street to Dyckman Street, about 2.3 miles. The Park
is not a New Deal creation but many of its features are.
