New York City New Deal...
Examples of New Deal Cornerstones
Except in New York City, most New Deal buildings have cornerstones
identifying their New Deal pedigree. In many cases a specific New
Deal agency is named, such as the Works Progress Administration
(WPA) or the Postal Service (in which case the Postmaster General is
named), and in some cases just the date, e.g. 1938. In new York City,
most New Deal buildings have no external cornerstone or plaque identifying
their New Deal origin, but some schools have plaques mounted inside
crediting the Public Works Administration (PWA).
