"Under the WPA a lot of furniture was constructed to teach young men how to
be cabinet makers. The furniture they made was for use in shools and
government buildings, mostly those built by the WPA. This desk is a WPA
desk that was used in the local school system for many years. Later it was
used by the city in one of the municipal offices. Now we are proud to have
it here in the Geronimo Museum. We have done no re-construction or repair
work, only cleaning, so it shows the signs of years of use. You can see the
intricate detail of the workmanship that was taught to the young men who
learned this trade. ..." Besides what's shown in this gallery there
are many exhibits related to CCC camps and who-knows-what other New Deal
activities in the TorC area.
