The
Henry Hudson Parkway in Van Cortlandt Park.
Image: Google
Street View. It enters the park near the bottom left, just above the four
baseball fields at the top of the Parade Ground. Then it curves upwards
towards the cloverleaf where Mosholu Parkway merges into it, and then exits
the park at the top. This is all Robert Moses work with financing and labor
mainly from the New Deal. Further to the right, another highway cuts
through the park: the Major Deegan Expressway (at bottom right you can see
where it crosses over Mosholu Parkway). The Deegan is a Moses creation too,
but 20 years later.
