Bryant Park
in 1931, before the reconstruction. The park is on the
same level as the street and there are no fences, walls, hedges, or steps
(click the Enlarge button above and see for yourself). New York Public
Library bottom left. The cylindrical object separated from the Library by
two rows of trees is the
Josephine Shaw Lowell
Fountain in its original position.
The
Dodge statue is near the center of the
right edge of the park. Diagonally along the top can be seen the Sixth
Avenue El (elevated subway line), soon to be replaced by the below-ground
version.
