Highbridge Park in Manhattan, seen from the High Bridge walkway, September 2019. The High Bridge Tower was built in 1866-72 to increase water pressure in buildings in the high elevations of upper Manhattan that received their water from the Croton reservoir via the High Bridge aqueduct. The tower served until 1949[1].
