The
Devoe Park office at the north end of the park;
a work crew is loading equipment into a Parks Department pickup truck. This
park, like more than 400 others in New York City, was created not only to
provide a pleasant and safe place for recreation and play, but also to
create work for people who needed it. Park maintainence is a lot of work
and employs a huge number of people in NYC to this day. So in a way,
the New Deal Lives on.
