Public
Works Administration was active from 1933 to 1942, financing thousands of
significant construction projects. The complete list for the state of
Virgina can be seen

massive 1939 book
Public
Buildings,
A Survey of Architecture of Projects Constructed by Federal and
Other Governmental Bodies between the Years 1933 and 1939 with the
Assistance of the Public Works Administration by C.W. Short and
R. Stanley Brown (US Government Printing Office, 1939), covers about 650 PWA
projects all over the country through 1939: dams, powerhouses, roads, bridges,
post offices, schools, colleges, and on and on. This page shows the
projects in the state of Virginia that are featured in the book, which were
chosen by its authors for their architectural or engineering significance.
