Jémez State Monument sign: "Welcome to the ancient ruins of the Gisewatowa Pueblo". The smaller plaque to the left says: "A registered cultural property, State of New Mexico. Jémez State Monument. Ruins of the Pueblo of Guisewa (ca.1300-1650) and the mission of San José de los Jémez (ca.1620-1630)." The two sets of ruins are not separated; the mission was obviously built in the Pueblo community. Since the CCC could not see what they were excavating until it was excavated, clearly they excavated Pueblo ruins too.
